ardiology Consultants, Ltd. was founded by Dr. Lamar Ochs, F.A.C.C., F.A.C.P. in 1975. Dr. Ochs practiced Internal Medicine in Belleville for a number of years before returning to complete a Fellowship in Cardiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Ochs retired from the practice in 1987. Many of our current programs owe their success to Dr. Ochs foresight and organizational skills.
Dr. Henry Mattis joined the practice in 1981.
Dr. Anil Shah joined the group in 1985. Dr. Shah was instrumental in setting up the Cardiac Catheterization program at St. Elizabeth's hospital and he is the current Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
Dr. Roop Lal joined the group in 1987 and established the Electrophysiology Program similar to the one he started at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis where he had served as the Co-Director of the Arrhythmias Services for five years. This program remains unique in Southern Illinois.
Dr. Atul Shah joined the practice in 1992 to expand our interventional staff.
Dr. David Wallace joined the practice in 1997 as an invasive cardiologist and serves as Director of our Nuclear Medicine Lab.
Dr. Regina Chiu joined the group in 2007.
This group's primary practice is based at 340 W. Lincoln in the Southern Illinois Heart Institute Building which is attached to St. Elizabeth's Hospital. The group practices at both St. Elizabeth's and Memorial Hospital in Belleville.
Cardiology Consultants currently services several outreach sites located in Southern Illinois that include:St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland, Illinois, St. Joseph's Hospital and outreach clinic in Breese, Illinois and St. Elizabeth's Hospital outpatient clinic located in O'Fallon, Illinois
